Space Aliens Grill & Bar - Albertville, MN - Neptune Bar-B-Que Cheeseburger

This was your typical tasting franchise burger.  I did not expect to like the fried onions (before this I would have asked for the burger without that but I thought "Hey, I want to try these as is..."  I was very happy I did because I think it added to the burgers taste.  I would say that I would order this burger again but it wouldn't be a "You must try this before you die" burger.  If you have not been to Space Aliens before, it is a cool little family friendly place where you can go and play games, win prizes, and be enchanted by the alien design (insert sarcastic comment about obvious decor due to name).

The Nook - St. Paul, MN - Guys Big Bite

I was a little weary of this as I do not tend to like pepper-jack cheese anywhere near my burger and also have never thought of putting roast beef on top my burger but this really worked out nicely.  The cheese was as "gooey" as one would hope from a Jucy Lucy.  I would expect the 3 different kinds of meats (hamburger, bacon, and roast beef) to not  go so well together but they compliment each other quite nicely with this burger.  The place had a nice low key vibe and they seemed genuinely interested in whether we liked our food.  Good food and a good environment (although from what I hear we got lucky and missed the chaos of a lot of people).  We did sit upstairs not down by the bowling alley.

American Legion, Brooklyn Center, MN - Cheeseburger

For four people, each with a full sized burger and fries, the price was $21... I don't know if you can beat that price for a group meal.  The burger by itself was only $4.75.  It first comes out and you look at the sad piece of cheese melted on top like they pulled out a Craft Single and slid it on top but then you bite in and it is pretty tasty.  Not a mind-blowing burger but when you take into account the price and the welcoming feeling of the place, you can't really go wrong with this one.

Blue Door Pub - St. Paul, MN - The Blucy

(Picture from unvegan.com - sorry did not take picture of this one)

My first burger of my voyage to find the best burger (well my favorite burger at least).  I had many people recommend the Blue Door to me and I had never been so I thought it was a great place to start.  First off, the place was packed and it was not a large place so I was not very happy with that but it was a good sign that their food must be damn good.  We finally got seated and I ordered what I was recommended first which was the Blucy.  When it came, I could tell I wasn't going to be completely happy.  First, the outside was definitely Well done.  I like my burgers Med or Med-Rare so that was an Uh Oh moment for me right there.  From past experience, I am used to Juicy Lucys being very gooey and cheese oozing out... this was not the case (Note: this was my first Juicy with blue cheese on the inside so that may have been why it was not oozy as Blue Cheese is not really an oozy cheese).  The burger seemed a bit over seasoned as well.
